What is the 10/40 Window?
The 10/40 Window refers to the area of the world between latitudes 10 degrees and 40 degrees north of the equator covering North Africa, Middle East, and Asia. Many of the world’s least-reached people live in this area.
The Church of the Nazarene is at work in 30 of the 65 nations in the 10/40 Window.

October—Praying Through the Window VI
The year from October 1, 2002 to October 31, 2003 has been designated by the Window International Network as Praying Through the Window VI. This global prayer initia tive focuses on the girl child and women of the 10/40 Window. The aim is to make sure that no man, woman, or child in the 10/40 Window lives an entire lifetime without hearing that Jesus Christ came to earth to rescue them. For more information and to register your church s participation in Praying Through the Window VI, go to visit Window International Network.

“Prayer begins where human capacity ends.”
- Marian Anderson
Prayer and fasting are vital to missions. For this reason, the prayer and fasting emphasis is not restricted to a particular month. Nazarene Missions International (NMI) provides special prayer and fasting opportunities in a variety of settings throughout the year. NMI knows that such spiritual disciplines take place in individual, small group, and corporate settings.
Prayer: ( back to top )
Suggestions for praying more effectively for missions are:
- Ask God to give you a spirit of prayer.
- Obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit regarding prayer immediately.
- Read books on prayer.
- Keep a prayer list or notebook.
- Use a variety of prayer resources. The Nazarene Publishing House has several available, such as a Prayer and Fasting Chart and Prayer and Fasting Brochures.
- Participate in special prayer emphases, such as Nazarene World Week of Prayer, World Day of Prayer, and International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church.
- Get requests from the Prayer Mobilization Line
- Above all else...pray.
Fasting: ( back to top )
Regular fasting and practicing self-denial, as the Holy Spirit directs, are encouraged. This will clarify thinking, add fervency to prayer, motivate giving, and help develop empathy.
If you cannot participate in the total abstinence of food or a meal, you can still fast by eating less than usual or by eating "no choice food" (Daniel 10:3).
"Fasting helps to express, to deepen, and to confirm the resolution that we are ready to sacrifice anything—to sacrifice ourselves—to attain what we seek for the kingdom of God." - Andrew Murray
